Meditation is something you can do on your own. Knowing this, you may initially think it seems silly or pointless to enroll in a meditation program. However, there are definitely some benefits of participating in a 30-day meditation program, whether you're brand new to meditation or have been doing it for a while.

1. Enrolling in a program builds a habit

Meditation is most effective when you do it regularly and treat it as a preventative measure. But when you're just meditating on your own, it is so easy to skip days. All it takes is a few skipped days, and suddenly meditation goes from a habit to something you just do now and then. When you enroll in a 30-day program, though, you will be motivated to meditate each day for 30 days. When you do something this many days in a row, it really becomes a habit, and you'll have an easier time sticking with it later on. If you want to form the habit of meditating and hold onto that habit for life, then enrolling in a 30-day program is the way to start.

2. Enrolling in a program teaches you new things

There are so many different types of meditation, from guided meditation to transcendental meditation. There are also all sorts of different techniques to explore within each type of meditation. If you enroll in a program based on a different type of meditation from that which you normally do, you'll learn new skills, and you may even discover a new form of meditation you enjoy better. Even if you enroll in a program based on a type of meditation that you regularly do, you'll pick up some new skills to enhance your practice.

3. Enrolling in a program lets you meet others who share your interest

The thoughts you think during meditation can remain private. They do not have to be something you talk about if you don't want to talk about them. However, talking with others about meditation, in general, can be really helpful. You can talk about what does and does not work for you, the realizations you've had, and how you've enhanced your practice. Most 30-day meditation programs involve plenty of group interaction, so you'll meet others who meditate and are happy to discuss meditation with you.

If you're meditating on your own and are happy with it, then there's no reason to change. However, if you would like some extra motivation, new skills, and new friends, a 30-day program can be a smart choice. Check out local or online 30-day meditation programs to learn more or to get started.
